Unpopular opinion - Jordan is safe and it's a hidden gem of the East
Okay so let's be clear. Jordan is not 5 star hotel, Dubai-sh, popular destination.
But for me, it is one of the best places I have visited so far. And while you think it's not instagramable, let me tell you, even the hardcore IG fans would freak out. You think I'm kidding? Then keep reading.
In Jordan, a lot of things suprised me, but let's talk about top 4. First of all - SAFETY. I have honestly felt safe the entire trip. Being a young girl in her 20's I didn't look 5 times over my shoulder, and that means a lot. People are kind, nobody is following you and nobody is expecting a big tip for doing nothing. As a matter of a fact, you can ask people to help you without them asking you moeny afterwards. Tha't refreshing, you must admit. Eastern countries can be quite tricky to "survive" but Jordan did not need surviving at any point. That's why I always say if you want to experience the East for the first time, maybe it's best to go to Jordan first.
Second of all - THE FOOD. Sweet Lord. I loved the food! To this day I always say one of the best foods I ate was in Jordan. Of course this depends on the type of cuisine you like. But for me - it hit the spot. Since Jordan is not so popular and does not have that much tourists such as Morroco for example, food options are quite everywhere truly local. You don't have to look for local food, it's at every corner. You are eating what Jordans are eating which is pretty cool part of the experience.
Third thing is - IT'S CHEAP. Either it's accomodation, tours, food or renting a car - everything's affordable! Accomodation is nice in general, but of course you need to know and research what to pick, same as with all countries. This is where Travel Geek comes handy. We do it so you don't have to bother ;) But still, food is insanely cheap and even desert tours and sleeping in desert tents is affordable to people traveling on the budget.
And the last thing - LANDSCAPES. You think you are traveling to desert-type country, but actually you are not. Jordan has an amazing sea, salty Dead sea where you have no option but to float. Those beaches are really something else and you can't help but enjoy it. The landscape, the canyons - they are breathtaking. History of the place combined with beautiful scenery while you drive to the country plus the hospitality and feeling safe - it's unmatched. Absolute gem in the east! Give it a go, you won't be sorry!
